Best Thing to Buy in March 2013

Ah, we've finally made it. Well, almost. To me, March represents the very tail end of winter -- a time when I anticipate the first robin sighting of the year; when little green buds start peeking through the dirt in their quest to reach the sun. March is a new beginning. Time to say farewell to grayed snow along the highway and hello to warmer air and skinny squirrel's who've just climbed out of their cozy winter accommodations.

Enough mushy stuff. This is Aol Shopping, and I woudn't be writing this article if I didn't have some shopping advice for you. Today I'm sharing the best things to buy in March. Below you'll learn what to invest in now in order to save money in the long run.

Jewelry

Now that the Valentine's Day rush is over and the next jewelry-buying holiday isn't until May (Mother's Day), jewelers have slashed their prices. You'll find discounts on fine jewelry, statement jewelry, costume jewelry and pieces that are already inexpensive to begin with. If your goal is to stay on trend for the season, stick with metallics (gold, silver, bronze and rose gold) and neutral colors in brown, black, white and beige. Also on trend this season are blues and neons.

PlayStation 3 Console

Sony's debut of the new Playstation 4 console has been a long time coming, but it's finally happened. What that means, Aol Shoppers, is that prices on the former model (PlayStation 3) have already begun to drop. MSN Money reports that, when previous models were released, the former models dropped in price by 60 percent. Right now, prices are certainly lower than they have been, as 250 GB bundles are now priced under $300.

Video Games

While we're on the topic of entertainment, let's talk about video games. A host of new video game releases that came out in time for the holidays have now lost their purchase steam. Games once hyped over and begged for by children and adults across the nation are now forgotten. That's a good thing for you, since retailers reduce prices in an effort to stimulate sales. You'll find discounts online and in stores on vide games, systems and accessories.

Hot Deals
Activision Amazing Spiderman for PS3, $38.07 (from $50)
Mario Kart (Wii) Game Only, $37.46 (from $40)

Travel Gear

We covered luggage in last month's installation of Best Things to Buy, but travel-supply deals are picking up so much steam we have to cover them again. Big supe stores such as Wal-Mart, Macy's, Sears, Target and eBags are all selling suitcases and travel bags at very reduced prices. If you'll need new luggage within the next year, we highly recommend buying now.

Grills

With barbecue season just around the corner, you'd think that stores would hike up prices on their grills. Think again. Right now is an ideal time to buy grills (and other outdoor supplies, for that matter), because stores are anticipating new merchandise. In an effort to move last year's inventory off the store floor and into people's homes, prices get cut. If you need a new grill for the summer, don't wait until the prices skyrocket in April and May.
